Psychic Development Exercises

Everybody has innate psychic skills. Some people will be happy to let these skills lay dormant, while others may want to develop their psychic abilities.

Psychic development exercisesFor those who want to experience psychic phenomena, there are many psychic development exercise they can practice to open their psychic channels.

Generally speaking, these exercises are more effective when they are practiced when your mind is in a more relaxed or meditative state.

This article will first look at a way that you can approach meditation and then it will describe an exercise that can start you on your psychic journey.

Meditation

Meditation is key to the development of your psychic powers.

Meditation handMeditation quietens the mind and allows your inner self to come into focus. It is at this point that you can connect to the universal energy and tap into higher consciousness.

Here is a technique that will gently lead you to a deeper state of mind where you can practice psychic development exercises.

1. Find a place where you can sit comfortably and not be disturbed by other people.

2. Try to eliminate distractions and interruptions, e.g. take the telephone off the hook.

3. Close your eyes. This makes it easier to concentrate.

4. Relax your muscles sequentially from head to feet. Starting with your forehead, become aware of tension as you breathe in. Let go of any obvious tension as you breathe out. Go through the rest of your body in this way, proceeding down through your eyes, jaws, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, chest, upper back, middle back and midriff, lower back, belly, pelvis, buttocks, thighs, calves, and feet.

5. Become aware of your breathing. Breathe slowly and naturally.

6. As you exhale, count “one”. On the next exhalation, count “two”. Follow this process for another two breaths counting “three” and “four”. Then start the sequence again.

7. Repeat this sequence 10 times. Don’t worry if you become distracted, just bring your mind back to counting.

Visualisation Exercise

This is a visualisation exercise designed to start opening your mind for the beginning of psychic development. Don’t worry if you don’t ‘see’ anything during this exercise, many people ‘sense’ or ‘feel’ rather than have an actual visual experience.

Third eye mandellaThe exercise uses the analogy of skyscraper for your mind. Your mind is a similar to a skyscraper. It has a basement and many floors. The floors represent different level of consciousness and as you move up the skyscraper, each floor has a higher level of awareness, knowledge and ability. The lift symbolises your developed ability to move to the different levels of your mind.

Read through the instructions a few times before trying it. It may seem that there are a lot of instructions, but you will quickly get the gist. You don’t need to remember it exactly, but try to keep the general idea of it in your mind.

Instructions

Follow the meditation technique described in the ‘Meditation’ section.

  • When you feel relaxed, imagine you are standing in front of an infinitely tall skyscraper that represents your mind.
  • Look up. You are unable to see the top of the building. It disappears into the clouds and beyond.
  • You realise that your mind is infinite just like this skyscraper.
  • You decide to explore the building.
  • You walk through the open door into the ground floor and find yourself in a light, airy space. It feels comfortable.
  • As you look around, you see many office doors. One is labeled ‘Shelter’. Others are labeled ‘Food’, ‘Safety’, and ‘Warmth’. You understand that the ground floor of your mind is concerned with the basic necessities of life and survival. You are familiar with this level.
  • You notice two lifts across the lobby. One is labeled ‘Down Only’ and the other is labeled ‘Up Only’.
  • You walk over to the lifts and enter the one marked ‘Down Only’. It feels a little cold and uncomfortable. The doors close and the lift descends to the basement.
  • The lift opens and you see a door marked ‘Lower Level’. Open the door, but do not walk through it. Instead, you just look out.
  • Astral manYou see office doors as you did on the ground floor. But this time they are labeled ‘Greed’, ‘Hatred’, ‘Envy’, ‘Pride’. You see more doors with other undesirable labels. You realise that this is your lower self.
  • You know that you have visited this level many times but now you want no part of this floor. You can feel the negative vibrations and want to leave.
  • Close door and lock the entrance to the basement level. Walk back to the lift and drop the key down the crack between the lift and the lift-shaft. Decide not to return to this level again.
  • Use the lift to return to the ground floor.
  • As you leave the lift, turn around and place a large, unbreakable lock on the door. You tell yourself that you will not use the ‘Down’ lift again.
  • Now enter the ‘Up’ lift. It feels warm and comfortable. Press the button for the first floor.
  • The doors open and you walk into a bright hallway. You immediately feel good as you pick up positive vibrations.
  • Again there are office doors. This time they are labeled ‘Dreams’, ‘Intuition’, ‘Feelings’. You’re familiar with these doors – you have been here before.
  • There are also many unlabeled doors and you understand that you have not yet experienced what is behind these doors.
  • Return to the lift and press the button for the second floor. But the lift does not move and the doors open again onto the first floor.
  • For a moment you feel confused, but then realisation sweeps through you. You see that you must spend more time on this level before you can move on. The first floor is where you will learn techniques that will enable you to explore the floors above.
  • You think about the endless floors above. There is so much to learn and you feel excited about your journey of exploration.
  • You return to the ground floor and walk outside.
  • Look up at the skyscraper of your mind and look forward to experiencing the higher levels.
  • Spend a couple of minutes concentrating on your breathing.

Conclusion

Everyone trying this exercise will experience something different – there are no rights or wrongs. Whatever you felt will help expand your thinking process, open your psychic channels and prepare you for further psychic development exercises.
